"Old Red Wagon" (wr10)

My wife was in the bathroom last night and I walked in and noticed something odd on the ground. I thought it was a jumbled piece of brown string from clothes or a towel. Taking a closer look I realized it was a fucking scorpion.
My wife freaked out and ran out of the bathroom. I took my slipper off and wielded it like it was Thor’s hammer and smashed the shit out of it. I didn’t take a picture, should have because that thing was disgusting. Come spring/summer months they come out and it has been hotter than Satan’s asscrack the last few weeks so it’s only gonna get hotter. I’m from California so seeing this thing just sitting there was something new. I hope that is the one and only one I see in my house because fuck that.

My wife had the same reaction when we moved to TX about 8 years ago. What part of the state? If you are in the west or south it definitely won’t be the only one you see in the house over the summer unless you treat for them, sorry. Here in San Antonio, having a pest control guy is basically a requirement of home ownership. We have someone come quarterly and do a barrier treatment. Costs a little over $100 each trip and keeps the scorpions and other critters out (we also have cockroaches, black widows, and tarantulas in my yard that I want to stay in my yard and not my house). You can also get the stuff at Home Depot and do it yourself for less, but you need to do something or they will find their way into the house. And if you think scorpions are bad, just wait until the Texas Redheaded Centipedes come in. Texas bugs suck, treat the house!

Scorpions glow under UV light, so you can use a UV flaslight to find them quicker:

Welcome to Texas!! I used to play with scorpions as a child here.
No, I'm not making that up.

Mosquitos and ticks. All the nasties we have up here. Remind me never to move to Texas.

Yeah, I’m glad scoprions are natural predators of spiders. But I want them hanging around the spiders, not me.
